Just wondering - how do the top paddlers get their ski's to the international races?
Im only a beginner in the sport, and besides competing at my home event and the Molokai in a couple years, id like to travel to other international races in years to come. I know that at some races ski's are available for hire, but do the top guys always use ski's supplied by manufacturers at the race location or do they transport their ski's personally to the race location in advance or on the plane(if thats possible)? Transport costs must be alot in either case?

I would guess that the top guys are provided boats at the races by their sponsors. I have been wondering the same thing about the guys that aren't provided boats or rent on site. I have checked into shipping a ski before, and it was extremely expensive. Not to mention that there is no way that I would trust a baggage guy from an airline with my ski. I used to be a pilot and saw how those guys treated baggage, not a pretty sight.
