			<title>Lifting water</title>
			<link>http://www.surfski.info/content/view/276/155/#pc_435</link>
<description>I think I understand all what is written, but there is a single thing which I seem to miss. Why do the persons on the pictures lift haft the ocean at the exit? While it looks impressive, it is hardly effective. To me that is typically caused by pulling too close to the boat, lifting the blade by bending your arm, rather than keeping your pulling arm straight, and lifting the blade with the shoulder. The shoulder needs to be lifted anyway.

Lifting with the shoulder tends to the the blade out of the water without lifting half a gallon on water at the same time.

Or am I mistaken in this?

<description>Thank you for including this article. Regardless how hard I try, it's always good to see the proper stroke shown to me again.
Thank you
