The Emirate benifits from having some exceptional people from all over the World....and at a push is still small enough for most people to know each other & help each other out a little. The DSKC & Shamaal organising team have tried to pull every favour in the book fiancially (and we have been well supported from the Construction & Water Sports Retail industry...as well as the official UAE Watersports development Authority,as well as a bright, switched on team at our sports marketing agancy Driving Force), include as many members with core responsibility as possible and have been 'planning & meeting' for 5 Months to build the event to where it is now. The plan is simple. We want to host (as a small bunch of possibly 100 active paddlers in the Gulf from all over the World) one of the Worlds greatest Ocean races. We do not have the heritage...so we are starting with a bang...we don't have great swell....so we are comitted to a deep water start....to chase what ever the wind will give us...we are not a 1st choice race or paddeling destination...so we with ideas like Anchorman & a world class prize fund are trying to change that. On CBS 60 minutes TV program last week, they did a segment on the economy of Dubai and what is driving the force behind it's success and potential downfalls.
