I think the last two comments say it all - on the one side will be people who have, in their minds, already found NB guilty (of a particularly nasty crime - pushing drugs to kids is revolting).

On the other hand you'll have people who feel "innocent until proven guilty" is the way to go and one shouldn't make comments about NB unless he has been found guilty.

I'm not saying either one is right - just that there's not much to be gained by flaming each other on the site. If someone wants to open a discussion on this topic, please put it in the forums.

This article was meant to inform people of the facts - NB has been charged with more nasty stuff and is now behind bars for at least a couple of months - it was not meant to provoke people into fighting with each other.

Let's rather focus on the awesome month of paddling ahead of us - Hong Kong, Dubai, Perth. Fantastic!

Guilty or innocent, jumping on the bandwagon and defaming someone, just because it might be socially acceptable to do so, is not right. At the risk of getting into a broader debate, if he had a moonshine factory and some teenager was responsible for killing road users due to drunken driving would he still be called "a lying cheating peddler of death"? I bet not. - Nico de Wet

Nathan will be facing 7 new charges ,25 years maximum sentence in February,(he still has 7 others to face later this year from last February's busts) They just showed him on National TV getting arrested yesterday and also being led off to jail in handcuffs .
They showed his mobile drug lab/pill press mounted in a trailer chassis with covered alloy side panels ,as well as piles of cash ,clear bags of white powder ,clear zip-lock bags of cream coloured pills and small white bags with black writing that had a brand name and the word Steroid under the brand.

For all you kiss arses out there that were going to welcome Nathan back to competition in Dubai, and have been wishing him well on this site, give yourselves an uppercut ,he is a lying cheating peddler of death who was likely to flee Australia after the race with his ill gotten gains never to return to face the music for his numerous crimes !! wake up to yourselves

he has updated his personal website this month too

Selling to kids?

From News.com

http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,22801101-421,00.html

FORMER Olympian Nathan Baggaley was last night charged with being involved in an alleged criminal syndicate planning to supply thousands of ecstasy tablets to Schoolies revellers.

In a development that will confirm the worst fears of parents worried about drugs at Schoolies, police claim the 28,500 ecstasy tablets were destined for the Gold Coast party week.

As Baggaley and his brother Dru were interviewed last night, police detailed how they cracked the alleged syndicate and prevented the ecstasy reaching end-of-school revellers.

In the past four months police have seized ecstasy worth $1.4 million and enough MDMA powder to make $1.1 million worth of the drug. NSW Police drug chief Detective Superintendent Greig Newbery said thousands of Schoolies revellers were at risk.

"There is little doubt that these illicit drugs were destined for sale to teenagers on holiday after completing their HSC exams," he said.

Byron Bay police commander Superintendent Michael Kenny said: "The peddling of illicit drugs, particularly to young people, will not be tolerated." - Rob Mousley

Olympic kayaker Baggaley refused bail

Olympic kayaking silver medallist Nathan Baggaley and his brother have both been refused bail after appearing in the Casino Local Court to face serious drug charges.

Nathan and Dru Baggaley were both arrested on Wednesday afternoon and charged in relation to the manufacture and supply of a commercial amount of MDMA, the chemical used to make ecstacy.

The Casino Local Court was today told that Nathan Baggaley was currently on bail for three drug-related matters in Queensland and was booked to fly overseas to compete in an international competition tomorrow.

The brothers' parents were in the court, and offered a $500,000 surety on behalf of their sons.

Bail was refused and the case adjourned until February 19. - Rob Mousley
