Among the "Aussies for Molokai" could you convey our best wishes - via Surfski.info - to our 'Mate' Richard Eadie, stalwart of the City Beach Pounders, Perth who did not feature in the celestial line-up.

This is his first Molokai.

(He is no spring chicken - late forties - and only started paddling a few years ago.) Richard also competed on a double at the ARB World Cup in Durban last year.

Looking forward to the weekend - hope there is some wind by then.

All the very best.
Regards, Rob

(I have attached a picture of Richard receiving his prestigious 'Doghouse' award at our recent summer wind-up function, from el Presidente´, Ken Richards (right) with Patron and veteran Pounders Paddler, Geoff Mullins, looking on)

Biased Western Australian

Being a biased Western Australian and a Cottesloe Surf Club member I think Kirk Jarrot (ex Cottesloe) is one of the best long distance paddlers around. He wins the Avon Descent usually by 1/2 hour or more in single ski races in down water conditions rather than downwind conditions against guys like Ash Nesbitt. The Avon is a 2 day 11 hour event so distance is not a problem. You cannot go past Chops (Dean Gairdner) (ex City Beach) and Dean Beament (Scarborough) for consistency.

Mark Nathan my training partner is also over for his first Molakai Race. Our last training session was in 7-9m swells in the Margaret River region (our playground). Every offshore downwind training run in this area tends to be in Hawaiian Conditions.

GO the West Aussies ! - Craig Fisher
