From someone who was way, way back in field, (due to my lack of wave riding skills which resulted in more time swimming than paddling!), I always enjoy the reports from champs such as Dawid. Quick question daaf, the days of pure skill (was there ever pure skill) in run riding, are they over? If you have a look at some of the superb photos by Mr Grote it is clearly evident that absolute strength and fitness is used to "buffalo" over the top and "scream" down the big ones. Is it a case of distance? 33km , where as in a race such as the Molokai '50km' being too long to apply this tactic?
