Here is a link from the same site with some photos of rapids.
Extracts is perhaps the most dangerous for paddlers and craft!

Specs

Lats, full specs are on the Avon website http://www.avondescent.com.au/

Might consider doing this on a modified outrigger canoe next year, probably the first, and maybe the last. ...hahahaaa.
Seriously, this would be a new challenge for OC, lots of interest in outriggers for ultra non stop marathons in the Mid-West USA like the MR340 Mile race. Outriggers allow the paddler to engage in mini sleeps and not fall off while they paddle to ward off fatigue. Carter Johnson did this to win the Everglades race in Florida on a surfski.

Avon boats!!

Hi Guys,

Yeh my boat is 3 layers of 9oz kevlar vacuum bagged, weighs around 15 kg.....its very strong!! The scuppers are built into the boat flat with a sacrificial plastic tube (that gives the venturi effect) that will bend and squash, and if stuck will pull out (it can be replaced in 1 - 2min), the boat will flood to the waterline (in the cockpit) if it pulls out!!

The class my skis fall into are sit on top (skis) the rules are rather relaxed....some years ago skis had to meet SLSA spec regulations. My ski is basically a K2 hull with a ski deck. It has a very good cruising speed....maybe not the top end speed of a K1.

Cheers Ash

What is regarded as the difference between Kayaks and skis Ash ? The Kevlar craft you are paddling in the above photos looks like a Multisport kayak with a cockpit ,are there many/any rules for specs?? cheers Lats - lats

Do these guys run a big risk of knocking thier scuppers off on rocks or do they modify them somehow? - Txski
