More Women

Hi Dave and all the gals out there. 2006 saw the biggest field of women in the long course..I think there were 4. I was preganant that year so watched from the shore....But how can we...you as race organizers attract more ladies to these events? Probably a whole new topic again..but it begs the question. And yes, I sat out in 2004 to run the event...as you know Dave...pretty hard to run it and race it.
Looking forward to having Nikki here...I predict she will dominate women's surfski for years to come, now that her K1 commitments are over. - DeAnne Hemmens

DeAnne and husband Patrick were the originators of the US Surfski Championships back in 2003. They were the main organizers of the race in 2003 and 2004 before they turned the bulk of the organizational duties over to the WaveChaser Paddle Series. If I remember correctly, DeAnne didn't race in 2004 because of her responsibilities as the race organizer. She likely would have won that year too if she had raced. - Dave Jensen

And the races keep coming....

Book your tickets guys! The racing continues in the Caribbean. A week after the US Champs on 28 September there is a great 25km race between St Barths and St Maarten, followed by a 33km race between Isle Desirade and St Francois in Guadeloupe on 5 October. Total prize money for the 2 races is $12 500 and they both count for points in the Road 2 Dubai Mini Tour! Come hang out in the Caribbean for 10 days and have some awesome fun. ;D - Stuart Knaggs
