Today was awesome..

 No other way to put it really, it simply was a crazy paddle with a good friend, whom just happened to arrive back from a successful overseas lifesaving tour less than 24 hours ago!

Author to friend: "My bru 3.30 my place don't be late!" Jasper: "I'm there china!"

(Bru/China = mate, homie, bra, bro 0r friend!)

3.25pm Phone Rings  Jasper: "I'm gonna be 10 minutes late." Turns out to be like 20! Typical!!!

Consider that it's late Winter and the light fades very quickly as it nears 5 bells, I was aiming to be on the water by 4, as it turned out we hit the wet stuff at about 4.25pm. On this 'run' you want need some light when you negotiate the treacherous Cape Reciefe Point and it's numerous reef's!

Carrying on..

What lay before us was 20km of pure Indian Ocean enjoyment + 7km of flat side on hell to get home to the club, 30knot average SW with stronger gusts with a medium to large swell. Awesome runs and temperate water. Jasper and I traded a couple 'monsters' that popped up from time to time. Our aim was to break 2 hours from beach to beach, normally times are taken from the back line.

Considering that we had 7km of flat at the end and the fact that Jasper did not take any juice a time of 1.58.38 was not too bad for the course. Don't know what the ave speed was, but our max was 30km which is a 'pretty sweet' speed!

Come the end we were both broken from the flat section and chatted the final few hundred meters discussing what we just did and how lucky we are to be doing something so incredible!

And the question came up, Did anybody else do a down-wind today? Was it just us or were there more... Durban, Sydney, Honolulu, Cape Town, Gold Coast, Perth, San Francisco, East London, Japan, England, France, Spain and the rest of the planet?

Well if there were I hope you had just as much fun as we did
