New to the sport?  An aspirant paddler wanting to get into a surfski? Maybe you just want to give it a try?  Saturday mornings from 8.00 - 9.00 you can get some great tips and hands on guidance from some of our top paddlers, and even go for an easy training paddle if you wish!

NEW DATE - 31 JAN 2008.  Online entry for King of the Harbour 2009 is now open!

King of the Harbour has been brought back to the 31st January 2009.   There are two courses, the long distance & surfski world series course and the short distance course. The event is open to single surfski paddlers, sea kayakers, single outrigger paddlers (OC1) & stand up paddle (SUP) boarders. All information can be found at www.kingoftheharbour.co.nz.

Harbour Blast Kayak, Surf Ski & Waka-ama Twilight Series
A new Northland kayak, surf ski and waka ama paddling series has been launched at the Ngunguru Harbour on the Tutukaka Coast near Whangarei.
 
Time trials and sprint races are staged on the Ngunguru Estuary with plans set to hold handicapped races and sprints over summer.
 
There is also the possibility of staging medium distance races in and around the Ngunguru Harbour (depending on conditions) including a race from Ngunguru to Tutukaka where the finish line will be suspiciously close to the Schnappa Rock Bar and Restaurant (nice plug huh!).  We also plan to have “draw your weapon” race days where you may end up passing up your surk ski and paddling a waka ama (or vice versa).  Should be good for a swim or three!
 
It will be ideal for visiting paddlers who head north over the Christmas break.  Paddlers of any ability can join in on the action.
 
Every Wednesday evening, register at 5.45pm, racing starts at 6pm.  Gold coin entry.
How to get there: From Whangarei, head on the Tutukaka Coast Highway to Ngunguru, and turn right at the northern end of the settlement to park at the Ngunguru School.
Registration will be at the car park at 5.45pm.  The start/finish line for the time trials and the first handicap race will be in the main channel of the estuary.  Paddlers will head up the Ngunguru River to a designated turn-around buoy.
Safety is your own responsibility.  If you fall out be prepared to swim, we do not have any safety boats.  So if you need a life  
Waikanae 5km Series & Race at the Edge of the World

A 5 race series will start on Thursday 27 November and run until 8 January 2009 from Waikanae Beach.  Races start at 6pm and are approx 5km long. 

Then on 3 January 2009, The Race at the Edge of the World will start at 12 noon.  This has changed to a 20km downwind run!  Entry fee is $100.  For more details please contact Paul on 021 797 873 or liquidgoldsurf@xtra.co.nz

 
Surf Ski & Waka Ama Series 7km - 9km - Wellington

The Surf Ski and Waka Ama series continues in Wellington.  Dates and venues for 2008 are:  Sept 14 Hataitai Beach ; Sept 28 Petone Foreshore ; Oct 12 Ngatitoa Domain ; Nov 2 Petone Motorway ; Nov 16 Hataitai Beach ; Dec 7 Ngatitoa Domain ; Dec 21 Petone Motorway.

Start Time is 10 am, with registration from 9.15. Entry fee is $5 per person with a maximum of $10 doubles through to O.C.6.  For all inquiries go to www.surfskiandwakaama.blogspot.com
