Simonstown, South Africa - Scarborough resident Paul Marais chalked up his first win in this year's Discovery Men's Health Surf-Ski Series, albeit in somewhat controversial circumstances, when he and Fish Hoek U21 sensation Sean Rice shrewdly elected to take a very fine line around Seaforth Rock, and sprinted away to victory in the Escape Gear Seaforth NSRI Fundraiser.

Rounding Barrenjoey Headland, the finish a mere 800m away, Nick Holt felt the grand piano drop.  After leading for three quarters of the race, he was in second place and hanging on for dear life.  Unfortunately for Nick, there were two paddlers bearing down on him.

Although weather conditions kept the racing in the Brest roadstead instead of the open ocean, the inaugural N1 Series was a great success, enjoyed by all.
