Yes Tuesday is just around the corner. What does that mean, Hout Bay Tuesday Surf Ski Series, WHERE FRIENDS MEET!
RACE 14 Smith Tabata Buchanan Boyes Presented by Unleashed Original Threads
Registration 17:00 - 18:10 Race will start 18:15 Course: Long +-10km and Short +-5km
No Life Jacket = No Paddle!
I am sure there will be more exciting paddling. When isn’t it?
Race 13
Rather challenging as 75 determined paddlers took on the wind. The wind this week had a different plan instead of dropping off as it’s done in the past few races. It did the opposite, which made the second lap a little tougher to get out to the pink buoy, off White House. All the hard work of taking the wind head on was reward with some great down wind surfing.
A surprised but very happy double combination of Justin Maddock and Steve Farrell who found that they were leading the field after the double of Ian Trautman and Greg Goodwin over shot the pink buoy, which set them back in the middle of the field. Justin and Steve took the opportunity and weren’t going to let it go easily as Ian and Greg fought back hard. But it just wasn’t enough as Just and Steve took line owner with Ian and Greg coming in second, with third going to the first mixed double of Alan Mills and Caren Planting.
First senior in was Daniel Kantor as second and third went down to the line. Joe Kearney not to far behind Daniel, but just at the last minute had swim in the surf, giving Gary Shaw enough time to close the gap as both came in on the same wave. But it was Gary who just pipped Joe in the final sprint to the line.
Bronwen Hobbs and Romy Parker were having a good old ding dong battle. On the last lap Romy was gaining on Bronwen, then just what she didn’t need was a swim. This ended her race and left Bronwen to take maximum points.
Neil Bailey back in a single lead the veterans across the line, as Nikolai Baikoff took second with Mark Torrington having to still with third spot.
The Masters Shaun Butler took maximum points and left the rest to fight it out for what was left. Dale Lippstreu pipped Johann van Blerck for second spot as he came in one wave back.
In the short course which was only one lap. Lucky for them, only having to take on the wind once.
Once again Guy Lundy took line owners (soon to take on a long course). Steve Smith not too far behind took second with Kevin Wright third.
First lady was Lisa Scott and 9th overall, with Nina Hind second.
Well done to all.
