More pics

This shot shows the new curved foredeck.  For what it's worth I think it's a very different ski to the Millennium - but we hope to see one soon here in Cape Town and when we do we'll have a much more comprehensive description and more photos!

The blonde is an optional extra...

You can't really see much in this photo of the hull - except that twin footwell drains have been retained.  Don't forget that it's a single footwell, adjustable foot pedal setup now and that means a lot of volume to drain.

Curved foredeck
written by Guest, February 26, 2006
I'm a bit sad to see the curved foredeck. I really like the clean lines of the Millenium's deck. I wonder what performance difference the curve makes - there must be a reason for the change. Otherwise it looks great.
Alain.

Curved foredeck - reason
written by Guest, February 26, 2006
Reason is: it's much easier to vacuum bag.

innovation?
written by Guest, February 26, 2006
Now I'm not exciting about it.
I tought that new ski will have a new shape, a new design.
THIS IS THE MILLENIUM.
Epic and Red7 innovate with their design.
For me, this is my opinion, it's just for Fenn a way to boost his production, to make a "new" thing for attract the consumer.
Nowadays, with computers, with the sciences the manufacturers had found the best way for hull shape.
Hull shape is the most important for the boat and when I look the pics of this new ski I see the millenium.
Maybe for deck, Fenn should make a seat less deeper for the power of the catch.

Rob,

Is it possible to get some Hull shots side by side with the Mill and the "New Fenn"?

Innovation?? You ment evolution
written by Guest, February 27, 2006
You must be high! Think about it!!! The millenium is as fast as they get as well as Epic. Red 7 etc. Do you think for one second that if Red 7, Hayden or Epic came out with a new boat it would be totally different. What they have works great, they just fine tune over the years. It is called evolution. It should have the same genetics as the Mako, and I am happy it does. However, I think if we had a top view looking down on the boat to see the outline with the seat that would be great( then some Hull shots) . I for one do not care what it looks like on the deck. The hull is another story. Guess what one day Hayden will come out with a new boat, I will bet it will look a lot like the F-K design.

Look carefully at the pictures. The hull is widest behind the seat so this may show as more freeboard at the tail. Also the hull forward of the seat may be narrower contributing to this (desirable) stance at rest. IMO it's very different to my millenium. Johann

Great looking ski which is sure to be a success. Congratulations on a great site, Rob. The move towards less volume up front and more volme at the back is interesting. The Robberg Express (and some sprint K1's) have opted for the opposite with more volume being shifted forwards, apparently with great success. I would not want to start a comparison between manufacturers but would be interested to hear the scientific rationale behind the two very different approaches to hull shape.

Are there any new comments from those who have paddled the ski. Curious about it's surfing performance for all types of paddlers as well as the stability factor for intermediate type paddlers.

More news on Fenn
written by Guest, March 03, 2006
In about 3 weeks time! The sole demo unit has gone overseas already. We'll have one in Cape Town (with luck) towards the end of the month - and then we'll have an extensive review of it.

Dissappointing that the first demo unit has been sent overseas. I hope that manufacturers are not putting the local market lower on the priority list.

No offense but I guess it depends on what side of the ocean you live on! It would seem to me though that given the sucess Keith has had in SA and the popularity and skill your group posesses that the need for this ski would not be as great. I myself love the Fenn Mill and can't honestly think that there is a ski out there that can match it for speed and overall surfing ability. I took it out today in large windy surf and it ripped!!

My guess is it had to make the boat that would not leave again for some time.... can always make another one for around home....

Hope it's coming to La La land here in So Cal.

I know this is progress, and that it makes economic good sense to periodically create excitement with a "new" product, especially with other ski manufacturers doing this of late (Epic). But the Mako Mill is such an amazingly beautiful design. I hate to see it go.

I believe it will never go away, and for the most copetitive of paddlers it will remain as the "ski of choice".

Agree that the Millenium will never dissappear. I have an order in for a new Millenium with the option of changing the order to the new ski when it becomes available. The new ski will have to be pretty good to make me change from the Millenium.

New FENN
written by Guest, March 10, 2006
Does anybody know when some of the new production skis will be out there. Right now there is a lot of speculation. Perhaps after some new skis are being paddled objectively next to Milleniums and V10s it might be a little more conclusive. I guess we are waiting for a stability comparison as well as a speed one.
