Hey Alain.

We've had 5 days of competition so far. 3 of them were at the pool and two at the beach. Our girls did very well in the pool managing to get about 50 points which is double what we got two years ago. The boys were out of their depth and made no finals.

The surf competition started yesterday and the high level of competition was soon clear to us. It was only myself and Durbanite Ryan Brennan of SA who made it to the Q-finals for board and Ryan got as far as the Semi's. The race was won by Shannon Eckstein in convincing manner. The girls fell out in the heats of the ski. The girls tube rescue team managed to get a silver which was excellent.

Today was the surfski for men. I drew the 9th heat along with pirates competitor Darryl Bartho. We paddled very well and together in each heat we made it all the way to the 16 man final. The only two South Africans to make it to an individual craft final. I ended up 12th and Darryl 8th.The race was won by Nick Crilly, defending the title he won in Italy in 2004. The girls fell out in the heats of the board. Shaun Dias along with a pirates guy made it to the male surf swim final of 30 guys.

The Fish Hoek team have made a few other team finals here and there and gather some points. We were 19th after the pool competition and we have moved up the field rapidly since then so we are looking good for a top 10 finish(We were 12th in Italy).

Tomorrow is the final day. Events include iron man and taplin relay. To make it to the finals in any of those two will be tough but not impossible.

Once again thank you to all who supported our world champs campaign.

See you soon.
Jasper
