Race 2 is already here. See you there! Registration 17:00
Start 18:00 NO LIFE JACKET = NO PADDLE!!!

The galley will be open. So no need to grab that take way on the way home.

Race 1 went off very well. In the morning I was a little concerned that it was going to rain. But it all turned out great. The little chill felt on the beach waiting for all to finish was quickly forgotten as you entered the club where they stoked the fire and served you a drink or two.

The course was a good 8km with runs in both directions. The course went around Preen to Ore Jetty and then Naaartjie and back again twice. The short course was one lap.

Well done to Ian Trautman who kept a fighting Daniel Kantor at bay right to the line! Ian took line owners in a time of 39:09 and Daniel was 14 seconds behind. Third was Aaron van Schaik (40:56).

The women it was Caren Planting throwing down the gauntlet to the other woman with over a 2 minute lead finishing in a time of 50:17. Romy Parker was second (52:44) and Theresa Isherwood third (55:53)

The first double was Andre van Rensburg and Andre van Heerden in a time of 41:00.

The mixed double of Rob and Liz Hart started the season off were they ended of last year, finishing in a time of 42:36.

A new member to the Veterans and not sure how much publicity he wants, well he started off with a bang. Trevor Stander took it in a time of 41:59 with GlenTrueb second (42:26) and Nick Rockey third (42:44).

The masters. Yes he's back Johann van Blerck after a year of organising the Hout Bay Surf ski events.  He kicked off with a good win, as the master category becomes more competitive. He finished in a time of 44:50. Clive Farrell was second in 45:11 and third David Cade (46:31).

The short course was won by Francouis du Toit in a time of 26:20, with Barry Hobson second (28:14). Third was the mixed double of Michele Leach-Lewis and David Murray-Smith (28:17).
First Junior was Craig McIver (31:00)

A big thank you to Shirley for helping out with registration and timing. To Sheran for sorting out CSA registration.

Well done to all that took part.

The Sports4u web site is still out of action. But hopes to be all sort out this week. I will let you know when it is up.

So I have attached Race 1 results for you to take a look at.

A big thank you to all those that took part in the Cannon race or made a donation to the NSRI. We managed to raise R1300 for Station 8.
It was a pity that the runners beat us. O well we will have to sort them out next year.

See you at race 2!

Don't forget your Life Jacket.

Cheers

Richard
