Race 3 of our Tuesday Series had 77 paddlers lining up for the long and short courses. The course was a no brainer with a steady SW’ly wind and a first lap
Race 3 of our Tuesday Series had 77 paddlers lining up for the long and short courses. The course was a no brainer with a steady SW’ly wind and a first lap of Naartjie, Sentinel rock, OJ Buoy and Preen was followed by the beach for the short course paddlers and a lap to Buchanan’s Buoy the OJ Buoy and back to the beach for the long course. Regulars are beginning to work out ‘local’ lines through the reef to Sentinel and then work the runs down to the OJ Buoy. Did I mention Torries in the bar? After an upwind slog to Buchanan’s it was runs again all the way to the OJ Buoy and more technical reflected runs from there to the beach. Did I mention Torries……..and there were plenty of whales in the bay again! In the Short course there were no less than five ladies in the top eight places! This includes Gayle Mc Arthur with David Momsen on the winning DX. Winner of ski1 was Jacki Barnes from Gill Anderson who was delayed on the beach when the dozy timekeeper forgot to scan her. First male in was Barry Hobsen nicely sandwiched between Gill Anderson and Ashley Barnes! The two Marks Ski2 won the long course from hard charging Greg Davies and Paul Moxley Ski2 just ahead of lady paddler Vicky Hind. Vicky was however assisted by Rory Cole in their mixed Ski2! Steve Farrell won the seniors and 1st Ski1 from Luke van Ees and Master Sean Butler in 3rd . Rebecca Newson back to her old form won the Ladies race convincingly from Tracey Smith who was delayed when she had to portage the ‘Southern Right’ route to beat Romy Findlay by one second! In the V10 vs the Mako6 needle it was Dale Lippstreu V10 this time from Rob Mousley Mako6 after Rob had klapped Dale in the Camps Bay MHD classic! The action then moved to the HBYC where Torries was tied to the bar, stripped and given a bikini job by a bunch of screaming women! It seems Torries bet Beetle that he’d beat him in at least one race last season but it never happened, Torries loosing the bet by just 7 seconds and Beetle insisting on his pound of flesh! The other Mark, just kept a low profile and sucked on a beer while his partner was stripped of his winter coat and dignity!
