1) Hout Bay Tuesday Series Race 6 is next. Registration from 5pm, race start at 5:15pm. Pfd's for all. Weather looks promising!
2) The start for race 5 had all paddlers line up close to Mariners Wharf while their ski's were placed anywhere on the beach to take advantage of their individual running or paddle skills for the first leg to the OJ Buoy. It looked like a toss up whether to run further  or paddle early but by the second turn at Sentinel Rock The Marks Ski2 had opened up a four boat length on the Ski2 of Greg ‘I was closing them down' Davies and Paul Moxley with Rusty and Caren on their wave while Steve Farrell Ski1 was taking advantage of the double double slip to lead that class followed by Greg Goodwin. A little further back Billy Harker was mixing it with Rob Mousley, the Harts and a few others when his hot inside line had him hook up on underwater shelf alongside the rock! Chris Login and one or two other bright sparks also came short here. Luckily the rock has a substantial covering of red bait for padding. After ‘The Rock@ paddlers threaded their way through the reef kelp beds to complete lap one at Preen Buoy and start the last lap while the short course headed to the beach.

With Graeme Rowe pressured into the long course it was Chris Sparks, Dave Murray-Smith and Kevan Wright first onto the beach thumping their chests and each other on their backs until they saw Megan Kelly was just 30 seconds behind them so this sorry lot then decided to skulk off for some more training on the water. Mike ‘last minute' Monson was last in the short course having swanned onto the beach with his new V10Sport once the race had started.

The flying Marks were in a long way ahead of the rest and the fierce fight for second place between Greg and Paul Ski2 and Steve Ski1. The worry in Greg's eyes, knowing Steve was on their wave as they approached the beach, was something else and switched to panic as I ran away from him as he chased me with his barcode. Greg and Paul did make it to second with Steve third. Billy Harker made up lost ground to finish as third Ski1 behind Greg Goodwin.

The Mako6 (Local Beer) finished 2 minutes ahead of the V10 (Warm Beer) but more importantly Rebecca again cleaned up the ladies race finishing between Local Beer and Warm Beer.

Competing in Race 5 were:
4 Ladies
10 Masters
17 Vets
17 Seniors
8 paddlers on Ski2's

3) Update on series tops. The current plan is to present tops to paddlers as they complete their tenth race.

See you on the water.

Cheers

Johann
