The 2006 St Francis Ski Series, organised by Nigel and Gavin Harvey and sponsored by INVESTEC and AQA with product support from POWERADE is always a favourite amongst the paddlers, this year's event was no exception. Weather wasn't the best, but the paddling certainly made up for it and the support was overwhelming.

97 paddlers turned out on the Wednesday and 88 on the Sat for the Keith Anderson Memorial Race. Congratulations to the prize winners, no doubt you enjoyed your share of the R15,000 cash on offer this year.

Whilst the organisors really want this event to draw the social fun paddlers, we are sure that they will continue to ensure top class prizes for the more competitive paddlers. Results from the two races are below. Results from Wednesday's canal race are incomplete as a fair number of paddlers failed to hand in their numbers as they crossed the line and the officials were unable to verify these as the paddlers headed down the canals to cool off. Capturing results in a social event of this nature is always difficult as we don't want participants to go through the expense of having to put race numbers on their craft just for the St Francis event. After all, this event is about just coming down and joining in the fun and then having a couple of drinks with the mates without having to dig into your pocket.

On behalf of all the participants, a HUGE thank you to the Harvey's for once again providing something awesome for the paddlers. The time and effort which you guys put to ensure this event takes place has not gone unnoticed. It's always something SPECIAL to be able to come down to such a professionally organised event with freebies for all (and all this with no entry fee been levied). Whilst the sponsors prefer to remain low key at this event, we must extend our appreciation to Investec and AQA for the role they played in ensuring that this event remains a permanent fixture on the calendar.
