Just thinking about Race 2 gives me the shivers Grrrr. With much debate through out the day on what course to set, I think it was pity spot on for the conditions. A bit of up wind bashing and some good wave riding back!

With much debate through out the day on what course to set, I think it was pity spot on for the conditions. A bit of up wind bashing and some good wave riding back! 74 boats lined up on the start line to take on the long course, Preen bouy ? Naartjie ? Pink buoy x 3 lap. It was Graeme Soloman who managed to whip around the course in an impressive time of 37:32 to take line owners from second place Simon van Gysen (37:58) and third went to Julian Callebaut (38:55). Romy Parker first woman, fought right to the end and finished in a time of 57:49, with Bronwen Hobbs second (59:44). A few new members that have sneaked into the Vetran category, but it was Neil Bailey who took it in a time of 42:14, second Chris Logan (42:53) and third was Nikolai Baikoff (43:55). Shaun Butler took an impressive first spot in a time of 43:44, with a surprises second spot going to Dave Cade (50:42). Third spot was between Steve Eales and Johann van Blerck, who had stopped to help other paddlers. Nice one! But it was Johann who took the inside line, which was a bit of surprises Steve. So much that he took a swim. I am sure he will be back with revenge. Johan took third in a time of 51:12. The men’s doubles was between the two Marks and the two Andres. Mark Preen and Mark Torrington teamed up to take first in a time of 41:03. I guess we will only find out at race 3 if the Marks will be teaming up for the series or not. Andre van Heerden and Andre van Rensburg where second in a time of 43:10. Rob and Liz Hart are dominating the Mixed Double category taking it in a time of 45:51. Who’s going to take them on? The short course there was a much smaller field of 10 boats. The course was one and half laps. Preen buoy ? Naartjie ? Pink buoy ? Preen buoy ? Naartjie ? Preen buoy and in. Kevin Wright took line owners (35:44), with Mark Bowes closely behind (35:53). Third went to the mixed double of Tony Barrett and Michelle Adams (36:24), pity about there swim otherwise they would have been up other two spots. First woman Jody Baumgarten (49:31) and First master was Graham Maddock (39:39). Well done to all for giving it a bash. The conditions were challenging. See you at race 3. Don’t forget your Life Jacket! ____________________________________ Tuesday Series 2005/06 Race: 02 Time: 00:54:17 Average Speed: 8.69kph Minutes per Km: 6.90 min Overall Position: 43/74 Overall Points: 69.14% Category Position: 23/41 Category Points: 69.14% See you on the water.
