Press Release:

Dubai Surf & Kayak Club have announced the details of the 2007 Dubai Shamaal – www.dubaishamaal.com at a function on the beach at the host venue the 5 star Le Meridian Mina Seyahi Dubai.
Niel Hamp Adams of Driving Force & Saeed Hareb head of the UAE Water sports Federation celebrate the launch.
The race was an instant hit in 2006 attracting a fairly strong field for a new race. Dubai was the perfect host and by all accounts the guys had a great time. Golf, Dubai Rugby 7’s, the Barasti Beach Bar, and lots of parties with the local Dubai paddlers made for a fantastic weekend.
This year’s event is launched bigger and better – promoted by Driving Force under the patronage of Dubai International Marine Club.
$35 000 in prize money & a ‘cash to compete’ promotion will ensure the best in the World are there. The cash to compete promotion allows for travel & subsistence money for the top 3 finishes in the 5 major international races in the World – which will go a long way to ensure at least the top 15 in the World compete. Another novel concept is the ‘Anchor man’ promotion which see’s the Shamaal give away the kind of prize that club paddlers dream of. Return tickets to Dubai, 5 star hotel accommodation, Fishing , Diving, Sailing, Rugby 7’s, Desert Driving and a chance to win (and keep) the World’s fastest, lightest ski – the EPIC ultra elite V10 valued at $6 500. It is the winners race boat – and is shipped home for you afterwards. To win see surfski.info.
The Shamaal forms a key part of the Sea Dubai water sports festival which includes Class 1 & 3 powerboats, Dragon boating, Jet Ski & biking – all on the same weekend as the World famous Dubai Rugby 7’s.
DSKC Chairman Wayne Randall said he was delighted at the support from the Dubai International Marine Club – and promised all visiting paddlers a fantastic time in Dubai.
