 The organizers of the US Surfski Champs have confirmed that
the event will take place on the weekend of 29/30 September 2007.
South African Dawid Mocke, the defending champion and winner
of the 2005 event will be there as will Barry Lewin (also from South Africa) who
was runner up last year.
Location
The event is staged within sight of the Golden Gate Bridge
and Alcatraz in San Francisco Bay.
Conditions are usually challenging with bumpy water, upwind and downwind
legs. Currents can also play a major
role: last year the paddlers were helped upwind by a strong current and then
enjoyed a longer downwind leg courtesy of the contrary current!
