From Steve Froese in Ireland(!) comes news of the French Ocean Kayaking Championships: Steve wrote to give us "a heads up as regards probably the largest ocean race in Europe each year." 

He went on: "At the end of August the French kayak federation hold a series of races on open ocean and it is generally extremely well run, and always very enjoyable."

The event venue is located about 45km from Calais (as the crow flies), convenient for UK paddlers.
