We can confirm that surf ski paddlers are welcome to participate in the 2007 Round Madeira Race.  We were concerned that this might not be the case - the event website says that only sea kayaks are allowed.  However, Rui Drummond of the organizing committee has explicitly confirmed that surf skis will be eligible to race.

Several South Africans including the Discovery Men's Health series organiser/legend Billy Harker took part in the race last year and reported that they had an absolute blast.  

The race entry includes full board and lodging for the whole stay - and the paddling is superb with all kinds of conditions being experienced during the race.
