It gives us enormous pleasure to announce the winner of the Dubai Anchorman competition...
Dubai Shamaal Anchorman 2007
Who the heck is Antoine de Rooster???
Well, we don't really know at this point - but you can bet we're going to be finding out a lot about him in the next few days and weeks.
Here's what we do know:
- He was born in May 1988 - that makes him 19 years old.
- He's studying at university in Perth, Australia
- He's been paddling between 2 & 5 years and I found his name in some surf lifesaving competition results when I googled his name!
- I discovered that he's part of a squad being coached by Ash Nesbit... ("Well, he's going to have to start attending some of the sessions then," said Ash!)
Most important though for us is that his name was drawn as the winner of the Dubai Shamaal Anchorman competition... and what does that mean exactly?
-
It means that he's going to be flown to Dubai to take part in the Dubai Shamaal race, all expenses paid.
- He's going to be watching the finals of the Dubai Rugby Sevens, and taking part in a host of other events over the weekend.
-
He's going to race in a brand new US$6,500 Epic V10E surf ski (the 8kg ski used by Oscar Chalupsky to win the ARB Surf Ski World Cup in Durban this year) and he's going to take the ski home with him.
The total value of the prize is something like US$12,000...
Congratulations to Antoine!
(and to the organisers of the Shamaal itself for running the biggest most exciting competition in paddling history!)
