The Racing Line & Ford Civil Contractors 2008 NSW Canoeing Inc. Ocean Racing Championships will be held in Wollongong (Australia) over two days on the 12th & 13th January 2008.
Saturday 12th January 2008: Single Downwind Race
Racing Line & Ford Civil Contractors 2008 NSWCI Single Ocean Racing Championships will be contested by last year's winner Dean Gardiner along with Tim Jacobs just to name a couple. Starting at Stanwell Park (south of Sydney) competitors will line up between two 50ft Sea Ray power cruisers 5 minutes prior to the start. A two minutes warning gun will signal competitors to begin to start moving slowly between two slowly moving 50ft Sea Ray power cruisers with the start of the race sound by the Wollongong Lord Mayor Alex Darling. Paddlers will then paddler south 23 km to the finish to Wollongong Harbour.
Open Men's and Ladies Single Ocean Ski will win an airfare to compete in the New Zealand 2008 World Cup. Each competitor will receive a Racing Line Rash vest ($A59) along with a bag of goodies. Additionally, all competitors will be in the running to win lucky door prizes include scenic air flight, paddles and lots more.
Categories include: Single Ocean Ski, Double Ocean Ski and OC1.
Sunday 13th January 2008: Double plus Teams Event
Racing Line & Ford Civil Contractors 2008 NSWCI Double Ocean Racing Championships will be raced on Sunday from Wollongong Harbour to East Corimal and return (12km).
To entice competitors to compete in the Sunday's Doubles Championships, Dean Gardiner from Oceanpaddler http://www.oceanpaddler.com/ has also put up $1000 cash prize for the winner of the Racing Line & Ford Civil Contractors NSWCI Double Ocean Racing Championships. The Open Double Ocean Ski winner will also win airfares to compete in the New Zealand 2008 World Cup. Each competitor will receive a Racing Line Rash vest ($A59) along with a bag of goodies.
