Kenya's coastline is truly spectacular: crystal clear tropical water, pristine beaches, stunning sea and bird life... And now a 120km 4-day paddle from the ancient coastal town of Malindi south to the bustling tourism centre of Mombasa.
Organized by the Kenya Watersports Trust with Francesco Gambella, AMREF Italy Ambassador, the inaugural event looks set to be a great adventure.
The Route
Day 1: 20km from Malindi to Watamu (where there's fantastic diving, and the world famous Ocean Sports bar)
Day 2: 40km from Watamu to Kilifi (More fabulous diving; awesome deep sea fishing; fresh prawns from Kilifi Creek; sundowners at the Mnarani Club)
Day 3: 40km from Kilifi to Mtwapa Creek (where you can dine on a dhow as it motors gently up the creek and back again - with no paddle!)
Day 4: 20km from Mtwapa Creek to Tudor Creek, Mombasa.
Trip of a Lifetime
Having grown up in Kenya and spent almost all of my school holidays at our house in Kilifi, I can say with certainty that this is a trip not to be missed.
We're investigating the possibility of getting skis up to Kenya by container from here in South Africa. Details will be published ASAP.
