Organisation for the Caribbean Mini Tour of 2008 is progressing smoothly. Confirmed prize money of 4000 Dollars for the Soualiga Challenge in St Maarten and 8000 Euros for the Defis Guadeloupe is in place and negotiations are underway for a Tour sponsor to provide an overall cash incentive for the paddlers doing well in both races.

Tour Details
The Tour will consist of the Soualiga Challenge - the well established 25km race from St Barths to St Maarten across the open water of the St Barths channel on 28 September, followed by the Defis Guadeloupe on 4/5 October, which will have a new course this year, starting at Desirade Island and finishing in St Francois. The races have been planned to slot in immediately after the US Championships, to allow paddlers to compete in SF, come down to the Caribbean and then continue to the Mayor's Cup in NY later in October.

International Interest
Interest for 2008 has been high, with committed paddlers from the Caribbean region, the USA, France, SA and even Sweden showing interest.
Between Guadeloupe and St Maarten, we can provide up to 50 paddlers with single skis for the races, but we are encouraging any serious contenders to bring their own boats as these can easily be sold in the islands after the race as high tech skis are in great demand in the area.
Transport for skis between St Maarten and Guadeloupe will be provided by the organisers at a reasonable price.
