Details are emerging about the Durban World Cup - more to come but here's a heads up...
- An exciting tussle for the World Series Title looks on the cards as Lewis Laughlin challenges Oscar Chalupsky and Dawid Mocke.
- Fenn Kayaks and Epic Kayaks are joint sponsors this year.
- Prize money is almost exactly the same as in 2006.
Sponsorship and Prize Money
In a historic moment, the two main rivals of surfski manufacturing, Epic Kayaks and Fenn Kayaks have joined hands to make the Durban World Cup a reality.
Prize money will therefore be at least (and there's still a chance of another sponsor yet to come):

So what does this mean?
Durban is a 4-star race so each place will be separated by 4 points (winner gets 50 x 4 = 200, 2nd gets 196, 3rd gets 192 and so on.)
TRAILER FROM CAPE TOWN TO DURBAN
Cape Town Surfskis to Durban World Cup - Trailer (via Knysna, Plett, PE & East London):
Anyone who wants to get their surfski to Durban on a trailer from Cape Town needs to contact Dawid Mocke who is arranging it. This will be by far the easiest and cheapest option in transport and logistics.
There are 12 berths at R750 a berth. This will include a driving service on race day i.e no driver admin on race day and also means you get your ski to the start and home from the finish as well as transport of extra kit like paddles, paddling clothes and nutrition which means you don't need luggage on the plane but hand luggage only. Travel like a rock star!
BERTH SHARING: Once all 12 berths are full you have the option of sharing a berth with someone to bring your cost down BUT ONLY once we've filled all 12 berths.
