Tuesday, 30 November 2010 17:11 Tim Jacobs made it 5 from 5 this weekend, winning the Manly Wine King of the Harbour in perfect conditions, on what he describes as one of his “favourite courses in any race in the world”. In winning race 5 in the Bing Lee LG Oceanseries, in association with Epic Kayaks, Tim has set himself up well to defend his Dubai Shamaal title this week. Murray Stewart and Dave Smith, who came 2nd and 3rd respectively, will join the contingent of challengers from around the world, looking to knock Tim off his perch. Read more...
Tuesday, 26 October 2010 07:51 The third race of the Bing Lee LG Ocean Series in association with Epic Kayaks got off to a great start on a picture perfect Spring day. The Pacific Ocean was flat with a very light 7km NNW wind on a .5 meter NE swell which meant the race direction had to be from Bondi to Watsons Bay. Read more...

Issuing a challenge like that to my training partner Dale Lippstreu always results in a ball-bursting, neck and neck, 110% redline effort. This time though he just disappeared (behind me) and 200m later I looked back to see him paddling backwards. “I thought I had something on the rudder,” he said. Nah. In an effort to be on the leading edge of the indoor paddling world, I made the switch from their older model, the Speedstroke which was introduced in 2001, to their newer model, the GYM, one year ago. Read more...  I have always wanted to fit an elliptical rudder to a Fenn, particularly a Mako 6 as it is my favourite ski. I can paddle an Elite but I prefer the 6 for all round stability and performance particularly in chop. Its main weakness is that the shark fin loses bite because of the ski's rocker and the fin's proximity to the tail causes the odd broach particularly in big swells.
