Very cool video.
I have been trying to get a rear mounted system going. I have bought ram mounts etc but the mast is deceiving me.
Could you take pics of what you have ? Maybe a schematic.
Also, how do you "attach" it to the ski ?

Lance, My set up is custom made - just from ideas I had...I couldn't find anything I liked.
I've got a RAM suction mount base I use occassionally (it's ok) just not tall enough off the deck to get the right perspective...If you made that any taller it wouldn't hold by suction alone. I've seen other homemade setups but they look too bulky/ugly/heavy...It has to look good too.
I use two mast heights 850mm(OA) in Stainless Steel & 550mm(OA) in Aluminium. mast base(Stainless Steel) is common in all my skis ...So, I can change from one ski to next. I even have an all round light on a mast for night paddling!
A couple pages back (pg10) on this thread is some more photos of my setup...Here is some others:

Previous craft: Affinity, Endorfinn, Multisport, Epic V8, V10sport, V10, V12, Fenn Swordfish, Spirit PRS Elite; Stellar S18S, SR, SE, SEL, S2E, S2EL

Skis on order: None!

That is awsome ! I see now how you configured it. So the base is screwed into where the rudder is. Ingenious !
I will see if this can be made to fit a Fenn Bluefin.

If you guys ever paddle in Bellingham (US), order the Spicy Pony Head (wind gusting to 50mph, beam seas and air temp at 42º F).

Was spicy enough I didn't even notice I was holding my spoon unevenly as I slopped it in.

Here's a video from our summer paddle group in Sydney, Dolls Point Paddlers. We do a 10km run every Thursday night on Botany Bay, usually an out & back into the wind, wherever it's coming from, but once it's over 20knots we just go one way, as we did in the video. It's compulsory to have a beer at the sailing club where we launch afterwards.... Worth watching if only to see how fast a carbon ski goes without a paddler in 25knots.

This is the run from Moffat Beach to Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast in Australia.

We were just out for some fun, but with the conditions as they were, we still averaged 16kph for the measured 12k.

As you could see, we weren't exactly working hard!

(The new Stellar SES was doing the work for me!)

This was the same day same place as Cryder's video. You can see us setting up in the parking lot. I have a rudder system on the OC-4, but the footplate which was salvaged from an old Epic ski, was unable to hold up to the pressure created by the speed and weight when we caught the bigger waves. As a result the carbon hinge cracked as you can see a few seconds in when we make a hard broach to the left.

I recently bought a Huki S1-R (series1, built 2010) for heavy weather downwinders (above 23knots) - it was in poor condition - so armed with a carton of beer and about 20 hours work...re-repaired 4 areas and pulled out 120 x dings, dents & gouges...added centre grab handles, made a modified footboard, new rails and steering lines, a new 9" rudder...hey presto a almost new ski... Here is its first outing in 23 knots.
