Despite the un-video-friendly conditions (low light/foggy), Rambo did a great job of this one. Look out for the flying ski in the surf at the start...!

The 2009 Doctor -- a 27-km downwind run from Rottnest Island to Scarborough Beach in Perth -- featured a Who's Who of aquatic beasts. Second-place finisher Jeremy Cotter was nine seconds ahead of Dawid Mocke, who held off Murray Stewart, who sprinted to the line with Reece Baker, who was less than a minute ahead of downwind maestro Dean Gardiner.

Some of Australia’s best paddlers diced it out at the Vajda 20 Beaches Ocean Classic this year – but Olympian Clint Robinson showed overwhelming form and finished 1 1/2 minutes ahead of his nearest rival, Tim Jacobs.

If Tim Jacobs wins 20 Beaches tomorrow, he’ll extend his record tally of victories to seven… And given his form in Hong Kong where he won the Dragon Run against arguably the toughest field in history, it’s difficult to see who could stop him.

The Dragon Run (this year sponsored by Steelcase) has been on my wish list since it first ran in 2007. Now that I’ve done it, it’s still on my wish list – only more so!

The briefing’s been done, 138 surfski paddlers (and over a hundred OC1 and OC6 paddlers) are checked in and ready to go. And the weather forecast is looking better and better.
