The Gold Coast has for many years been a heartland for Surf Life Saving. In recent years ocean ski racing has begun to emerge with more and more paddlers making the leap to long course style of paddling.
Dec 9, 2010 will see the start of one of the World’s longest running Ocean Paddling races. The Port Elizabeth to East London Solo Challenge holds iconic status among South African paddlers as an ultra distance event where simply finishing is a victory.
The third race of the Bing Lee LG Ocean Series in association with Epic Kayaks got off to a great start on a picture perfect Spring day. The Pacific Ocean was flat with a very light 7km NNW wind on a .5 meter NE swell which meant the race direction had to be from Bondi to Watsons Bay.
The second day of the US Surfski Championships event is supposed to be a laid-back: a doubles race followed by a fun relay. But, “Fark this was exhausting just to watch the sprint finish!” said the irrepressible Rambo who captured the moment on video.
