When some of the best surfski paddlers in the world gathered in Cape Town, South Africa for the inaugural Cape Town Downwind Race, Greg Kitto of White Hot Media was on hand to record the action.

Fish Hoek – Paddling superstar Hank McGregor overcame a world class field to successfully defend his South African S1 Surfski Championships title in the Cape Town Downwind on Sunday whilst locally based Dawid Mocke cemented his position at the top of the Oceanpaddler World Surfski Series standings.

The Challenge is on!  Widely accepted as the world’s toughest test of ocean endurance paddling, the 4-day, 250km Port Elizabeth to East London Challenge will begin on December 6th and end on December 9th.

The 2-day, 74km Stellar Kayaks Dolphin Coast Challenge is one of the iconic surfski races in South Africa and 2012 was its 13th running. 

Umhloti – Hank McGregor (Team Best 4 Kayak Centre) capped off what has been yet another magical winter surfski season for him when he once again showed off his sublime open ocean racing abilities to canter home to victory in the 26km Epic Kayaks KZN Surfski Champs on Saturday afternoon.

Scottburgh, South Africa – Paddlers couldn’t have asked for better conditions for the Island Tribe Scottburgh Surfski Classic, race seven of the Discovery Best 4 Surfski Series, and, despite some drama in the closing stages of one of the series’ unique feature races, it was once again Hank McGregor who lead the field home.

Durban – Team Best 4 Kayak Centre captain Hank McGregor reclaimed his customary place at the top of the pile when he cruised to victory in the Stellar Kayaks surfski race, race two of the Discovery Best 4 Surfski Series, on Sunday morning.

Dabulamanzi Canoe Club Surfski Section is hosting the second  GAUTENG HI-ALTITUDE SURKSKI CHAMPS on the extremely challenging landlocked Emmies course in Johannesburg – The only Inland Blue Flag Beach.

East London - Durban surfski ace Matt Bouman outsmarted a quality field to win the Automall Pete Marlin Memorial surfski race in East London in superb big downwind racing conditions, using a direct inside line to set up a handsome two and a half minute victory margin.

Hout Bay - Jasper Mocke seized the upper hand in the Discovery Sunglass Gut surfski series by winning his second race when he took full advantage of the last-minute course change to win the Discovery Downwind that was held in the protection of the bay on Sunday.
