Bungee Deck Rigging, But Attached To Foam Pad?

On my Huki, I have the traditional (?) pad eyes epoxy'd to the deck:

But on my new used sort-of OC-1, I would like to go a different route: glue on a foam pad that has the bungee attachment points embedded in the pad.

Kind of like this:


Vastly cheaper and, if done right, strong enough.

Anybody seen/done anything like this?

Last year I saw an implementation online, but cannot find it now.

The critical point would seem to be how to embed the rods or whatever the bungee is threaded through into the foam without having them tear through under tension.

I strongly recommend not attempting it, that said, it should be a good learning experience. Good luck!
