Hi Olivier,
If the ski is too long for you, you can pad the back like you said, or put some foam pads on the pedals and heel-plate, or you could do both.
If you just want to shift your weight forward, you could do like you said, but the further forward you come, the higher your backside will be, making the boat a little tippier.

Given height and weight, foam packing may not work so well- worth a try though.
Would it be an option to look into a smaller ski? Huki makes a ski for smaller paddlers that has had good things said about it.

Hiro, I agree that bottles of sand will trim the boat, but wonder how or if handling will be affected in big waves.
Also, Olivier is a small light paddler in a large volume boat. Being a lightweight myself, I can say a big boat can be more of a handfull in strong winds.
Anyway, your thought is a good one, given the cost and hassle getting a boat from abroad, and well worth trying.
