2013 US Surfski Champs

Announcement from the event organisers:

We have an “official” date for this year’s USSSC Races. August 3rd and 4th. Because of the America’s Cup Races going on from July through September, we are unable to host the race at our normal venue. This year’s race will start at Oyster Point and finish at Pacific Shores in Redwood City. Click here for the course

This is the same course that we run for the WaveChaser Summer Downwind Series. One of the most consistent downwind courses in the SF Bay Area. The one major difference is that we’re taking out the last mile and a half of the normal race course and ending just inside the harbor mouth. Almost 99% downwind.

After a very successful venue change for 2012, this venue change will only be for 2013.
Logistically, this race will be a breeze. The race start is only a couple of exits from the San Francisco International Airport and lodging will be found all along the Peninsula.

We’re still working out the details, but plan on hosting a downwind race on July 28th, along with a mid week race either on Tuesday or Wed.. Makes for a great paddling week and most of it will be all downwind conditions.
We still plan on hosting clinics along with a demo day at Oyster Point Park with a small beach area. Click here for a map of the clinic location

We apologize for the late notice, but we had been trying to work with the Coast Guard to run our event with the America’s Cup Races, but to no avail. Will be a great week to get in some paddling and also a chance to check out the AC72 Louis Vuitton Races that will be going on the same week. These boats are pretty amazing and have to be seen in person.
