there are some good designed details on the Think Nitro / Pyranha Octane, which I wished the V7 had ...
exept for the weight, as it appears to be the highest in the pack (Raptor < 510 < V7 < Nitro) ?

Length 539 cm
Width 53 cm
Weight surf rudder 24 kg over stern 26 kg

from a dealer's website, yep, longer length adds, but still ...

Soon enough, couple of polyethelyne skis will be placed side by side awaiting their turn for the scale. I think we are going to be very surprise to see their respective weight and how they differ from specs.

It's sad that manufacturers feel the need to deflate ski weight.
They are going to claim that 'we placed it on the scale without its rudder system' but where is THIS disclaimer?

Later, we are going to learn that the so called 'rudder system' that they didn't weigh include the footboard and pedals.

Come on people... get your PE skis, unpack them, rig them, and put them on a scale - AND SHARE the numbers.

yep, would be really nice to have them all on the scale and the same track (incl. the Raptor ...)

However, on the 510 you wrote in your 560M thread:

"Weight: Now... that one surprised me... but I am allowed to say is that it may also REALLY surprise you."

22kg+x, so? 22kg, that's what manufacturer and Nelo says ... so in reality, it's by far lighter or what did you mean? that would be a funny marketing strategy of understatement

22kg and it's the shortest TP ski of them ... (excl. that 505 chinese PE ski), I do not quiet yet see the weight miracle I was interpreting into your comment those days. 22kg is pretty much "in line".

I'll put my V7 on the scale tomorrow again ... (s.b. 23kg+x)

21.5 kg +/- 4%
All rigged up with hatch covers, rudder, etc. - ready to hit the water as soon as you put a leash on it.
(It's quite respectable)

Here's the info in French:

you consider 11-12kg composite boats as heay (your 560M thread) , but a PE boat of 21.5kg that saves 1.5kg+x over the next peer as respectable?

Sorry, originally I was expecting at least the pre-announced 19kg from such comments ... whatever rigged/unrigged state that refered to ... but 21.5kg does not blow me away.
It's a good weight and I I like that it is such a low boat, the day hatch, the debrito bailer etc., but the weight leaves me rather unimpressed ... ok, must be me.

photofr, you wrote in this thread

"Speaking for the only Plastic Ski I have tried so far:
Epic V7 - two came in at 20.2 kilos, and one at 21.1 kilos*.

* Note: this was complete with water bottle, leash, and obviously the steering.

20+ kilos is quite light for a "plastic" surfski, when you consider that most regular ocean kayaks are in the 25-kilo market. (.....)
Thanks for posting the list. I didn't even realize so many people made them.

That's some funny stuff: 'the fact that you are all bent out of shape because you are not impressed'.

You want to be impressed with a ski weight, get a composite ski, ideally in carbon.
You want to be impressed with a plastic kayak, get a PE Surfski.

I could be mistaken, but it looks to me that you are looking for a 1400 surfski that's about 12 kilos. You gotta look on the bright side: 1400 for a plastic surfski that weighs less than 25kg is just and absolutely fantastic.

I have a 12 kg carbon ski, the PE ski is my winter ski.

However, what was trying to say, in a nutshell:

you were more or less "hyping" the soon to be revealed 510 weight those days in your 560 thread :

"Weight: Now... that one surprised me... but I am allowed to say is that it may also REALLY surprise you."

then that weight turns out just to be +- "in line" with what one would have expected from previous rigged ski weights (and even the V7 weights you posted yourself) .

Seems that I got overly excited by your comments those days for a even lower weight towards the initially listed 19kg and not the estimated 21kg (by me, see your thread). My fault, I guess I just have to get used to superlatives.

But that's why the actual weight does not impress me (it's great it's not more), 'cause it's in line and does not surprise me or blow me away ...
