There's no such thing as a bad paddle?

I've always held that, "there's no such thing as a bad paddle".  well I'm re-evaluating whether I'm going to say that again!

This morning Damian, "Big Mac", Rob and I planned to do the course of next week's race as practise.  Next week's race is the qualifier for the Cape Point Challenge - you have to finish within a certain amount of time after the winner in order to be allowed to enter the Challenge.  The course is 35km long - from Fish Hoek to the Clan Stuart wreck in Simon's Bay, to the other side of Smitswinkel Bay and back to Fish Hoek.

I knew that we were in for some sort of "challenge" today; the wind had been howling yesterday and was forecast to die during the morning today.  In other words we'd have the wind in our faces going out, but it would probably die around about the time we turned around - so we wouldn't be helped home.

Surfski.Info is One Year Old

Tuesday, 19 December 2006 21:23 |

Image 2006 has been an exciting year for surfskiing and for surfski.info. When we started out last year we had the objective of developing the world's premier Surfski website - we like to think we have achieved that objective.

In our second year we are going to crank it up an notch or two and we have a number of initiatives in the pipeline.  To help fund these initiatives we are now inviting selected advertisers to purchase advertising space on the site.

Thanks to Google Analytics we have some very interesting information about surfski.info.

Cape Kayak Races get Surf Ski Friendly

Thursday, 13 July 2006 12:18 |

Good news for social paddlers in Cape Town is that Margaret Silk of Paddlers Kayak Shop in Simonstown is now welcoming surf ski paddlers to participate in their previously sea kayak-only race series.

"The demand has been too much and we've caved in!" - says Margaret. "Our kayak races are now open to surf skis so we thought we would let you know.

"Our races tend to be more social than competitive so Oscar and Dawid types should probably steer clear but new paddlers and the lower grades might like to join in."

Details are at http://www.paddlers.co.za/pages/racepage.html

"In addition we will soon be stocking surf skis as well as our range of sea kayaks."
