Calm before the storm? Calm before the storm?

The inaugural Race of Champions takes place in Portimao, Portugal tomorrow...  110 paddlers from 14 countries will hit the start at 3pm tomorrow afternoon in a quest to take home some of the €20,000 prize money.

Course

The 25km course is an out and back - with two hotspots, both near the beginning of the race to get the adrenalin pumping...

With the forecast westerly, the paddlers should get something of a downwind on the leg back to the finish.

Race of Champions

Weather

While the weather forecast doesn't indicate a thumping downwind, it's ideal for this race - it'll be kind to the flat-water paddlers, while introducing enough in the way of bumps to interest the surfski paddlers.

Weather forecast

The race start has been delayed to 3pm to give that forecast westerly breeze time to fill in.  Pray for wind guys!

"The opinions of the paddlers could not be not more positive," he went on.  "The word most used to describe the venue of the Race of Champions was ... paradise! Lets see who win the biggest place in the paradise..."
