More and more races organised in France are run on a downwind course, as with the 2010 French Championships organised in Cherbourg.

In order to support this trend and in order to integrate quickly with the official international circuit, we have decided to organise the “BREIZH OCEAN RACING” which will take place on the 12th, 13th and 14th of November in Brittany along the beautiful west coast of the country.

This will also be the first race in main land France reserved for surfskis and outrigger canoes, which offer prize money.  (So far the prize money on offer is Euro6,000.)

The organizers have already arranged the French championship at the end of august 2008 with a race won by Oscar CHALUPSKY just ahead of the French champion Benoit LE ROUX. "It was my hardest race" he afterwards said.

Multiple Courses

Several courses are planed around the "Presqu'ile de Quiberon" which borders the Bay of Quiberon, renowned as one of the most beautiful bays in the world.

The final choice of the long race (22km) will depend on the weather conditions in order to maximise the downwind element. It's also planned to offer the paddlers a short course in front of the beach which will also serve to establish the order of starting for the long race.

Race Venue

The welcome and administrative centre is planed to be on the site of the National School of Sailing and Marine Sports at Saint Pierre Quiberon which offers excellent facilities right on the water at the heart of the bay.
