At last we have a couple of photos of the new Fenn single ski! We're hoping for a few more soon, but here's what we've got.  They confirm some of the reports that we've had from East London - the single footwell and the curved foredeck.

Reports of its performance are sketchy, but I'm told that it's a lot more stable than the Millennium. Along with the Epic V10 I suspect that it will set a trend towards faster, more stable skis that lesser paddling mortals (such as me) will find easier to manage than the current generation of top end skis.

Characteristics:

  • Single footwell
  • Single plate adjustable rudder pedals.
  • Narrower than the Fenn Mako Millennium in front of the seat (i.e. in the area of the catch).
  • Retains the wider seat (than the older Fenn Mako).
  • Wider at and behind the seat.

Dimensions:

The new ski has the following dimensions:

  • Length: 6.44m (i.e. 21' 1.4")
  • Width: 44cm (17.3")
  • Weight: same as the Fenn Millennium (i.e. 28-32 lbs - carbon graphite; 35-38 lbs - fibreglass)

Price: It'll be priced approx. the same as the Fenn XT

(And many thanks to Allan Booth of East London who sent me the photos...!)

This shot shows the new curved foredeck.  For what it's worth I think it's a very different ski to the Millennium - but we hope to see one soon here in Cape Town and when we do we'll have a much more comprehensive description and more photos!

The blonde is an optional extra...

You can't really see much in this photo of the hull - except that twin footwell drains have been retained.  Don't forget that it's a single footwell, adjustable foot pedal setup now and that means a lot of volume to drain.
