European Surfski Races European Surfski Races

There’s plenty happening in Europe in the second half of 2010 – two new surfski races in Portugal and races in France, Italy, Sweden, Norway…  race in the Arctic anyone?  (These races and more are all listed in our handy calendar on - add your own events...)

And for something completely different…  The Arctic Sea Kayak Race (or ASKR) is the second official 2010 ICF Surfski World Series race…

The race sounds like a phenomenal (if chilly) experience and takes place at Vesterålen, Norway on 30 July, 2010.  It’s been running for twenty years and this is the first time that surfskis have been invited to participate.

Norwegian Olympic K1 Champion Eirik Veraas Larsen is the inspiration behind racing skis in the Arctic and said, “Attached some info about the first surfski race ever in Norway! Are you tough enough to race in our Arctic waters?”

The Swedish Surfski Champs – Seamasters –takes place at Arkösund/Oxelösund, Swedish east coast, Baltic Sea on 31 July, 2010.

11-time Molokai Champion Oscar Chalupsky will be there and will be conducting coaching classes…
