South Africa’s Hayley Nixon managed to hold off Australian Iron Woman star Jemma Smith in a nail-biting finish at City Beach at the end of the first of two Sunset Series Races, part of the Shaw and Partners WA Race week here in Perth. In the men’s race, Cory Hill consolidated his lead in the week’s rankings, ahead of fellow Australian Tom Norton.

This video was shot in Perth on a run from Point Peron to South Beach, south of Fremantle, WA.  The runs are crazy clean - the water is crystal clear and warm.  What's not to like?!

The Perth Doctor almost always has great downwind conditions, but the 2017 edition was something special.  Days out, the forecast was for 25kt of southerly wind and sure enough the forecast was spot on...

The 2009 Doctor -- a 27-km downwind run from Rottnest Island to Scarborough Beach in Perth -- featured a Who's Who of aquatic beasts. Second-place finisher Jeremy Cotter was nine seconds ahead of Dawid Mocke, who held off Murray Stewart, who sprinted to the line with Reece Baker, who was less than a minute ahead of downwind maestro Dean Gardiner.
