The main training area is at Ghadira bay which is right opposite the Seabank resort. This is easily accessed from the boat storage area, which is in the hotel garage and a ramp which leads to the bay is found immediately as you cross the road.
The bay is 1 km wide and 2 km long and one loop of the bay is 6km long. this is perfect for doing aerobic work in laps in order to gauge the speed/distance as well as time trials in consistent conditions. Furthermore we shall be including a time trial route so that we will upload the times on the BLAST project website.
The conditions are idyllic when the wind is blowing from the North East, which is quite frequent during the winter months. For the less experienced paddlers, the bay offers a ‘safe zone’ where to practise downwind paddling along the length of the bay which is 2km long.
On the weekends we can arrange for the more experienced paddlers to paddle a downwind route which is 20km long, from Ghadira bay down to Msida Creek, found in Marsamxett harbour.
