Foam for foot blocks was created by 7ender
Hey guys,
Anyone know where to get some good closed cell foam, or any other material, that would work well for making foot blocks? The cockpit it my Maki mill is a bit too long.

I bought a camping pad from WalMart, but the foam seems to be too soft. By the time I layer it up to make an adequately sized foot block, it will be way too squishy and prevent leg drive.

Ideas for something else?
Thanks!

Yeah the camping mats are too soft, inferior foam. Here in NZ we have a store called Para Rubber who have all different thickness of foam and its a lot denser, don't know what you have or even where you are but you need to find a rubber and foam supplier for the good stuff.

If you go to your local friendly kayak store, sometimes they have some large foam blocks that are removed from kayaks after transportation, I have some which are about 100mm thick and very dense, could make something out of those perhaps.

Go to your local canoe shop and buy a butt pad.Cut to size. They come with glue and backing paper.Peel off and stick on.Easy and simple.

I think I may have found the solution- Yoga blocks. They are cheap, readily available, and I can cut it to size.

Can anyone confirm that EVA foam is closed cell?

7ender, yes EVA is a closed cell, rigid foam. Also known as mini-cell foam.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationFor those in the US, looking for a good sized block at a reasonable price...

Black Minicell Closed Cell Foam Waterproof 24"x12"x4.5" for about $30

I have purchased a few blocks of this for fabrication projects in the past.
