Carrying handle on surfski

Hi,
I will be taking part in some marathon paddling with my surfski. There will also be some portaging and for this purpose I'm thinking of adding carrying handles to the sides of my ski (a nelo 550). I prefer a rigid handle so that I can easily control carrying the boat when there is side wind. The handles should not hinder a re-entry, or should be easily detachable when I go out for sea paddling.

Is there anybody who has experience with adding  carrying handles to a surfski?

Thanks!
Karel

Does yours not have the recessed handles in the side of the cockpit?

You might want to try an easy solution that I have found very helpful.
Simply add some anti-slip tape on the inside of the ski, where the recessed handles would be - and even on the outside as well, if you like. This will ensure a safe grip when you carry the ski.
I use tape made for boat decks, stairs, etc. It is very durable and a cheap solution, so why not try it out?
Be careful though, if your legs are sliding on the tape while paddling, it will be very annoying.
I have the same 550 without handles.
