stability pontoons for a K1

I'm thinking about adding stability pontoons, on a 4' long aluminum angle, a couple of feet behind the cockpit, for a K1 I may end up with.
NE body tried this and have suggestions? Learning to paddle this thing without some stability devise may be more than I can handle but I might like to use it as a boat secondary to my S1-X while I convert it from a fixed double footwell to an adjustable single footwell.
