I am a novice surfski paddler located at the westcoast of Sweden, where it can be handy to have a GPS with map facilities. I use an Epic V10S and to strap the GPS on the front wall of the foot well is not good, you can't reach any buttons of the unit and the unit is usually to large to strap on the footstrap. I dont want to drill any holes in the surfski either...
I found out that a US company, RAM Mounting Inc (www.ram-mount.com/), have a huge set of suction cups, links, holders for cameras and GPS units and I have built together one holder for my Garmin GPS 60 and one holder for a small camera. The suction cup seem to get a really good grip (but a small safety line is probably good to have). RAM Mount also seems to have a lot of resellers around the world (it was no problem to get the equipment in Sweden anyway). Some photos (low quality) are attached to show the result.
The first tests have went well but I have not tried the equipment in any big waves/surfs yet.
